No joke! No joke!

ETA: Paint offer has expired. :(
Photobucket
If you go to

Pick a color online and they will send you a free quart. The offer is good through July 2 or while supplies last. I just picked eggshell for me and candy apple red for my mom. This is not a scam. It is through Glidden and Home Depot!!!!

A wonderful mess??

Photobucket
Okay, this project to tile the bathroom, living room and kitchen has turned into a total renovation. Just last year we had to re-do the kitchen. If you ever want to test your marriage, renovate your house. I mean this in a good way. If you can still look lovingly into your spouse's eyes after watching him shower with the backyard water hose or share a smile while brushing your teeth in the kitchen sink, your marriage is good to go.
I have been missing my blog so much. I have like 52 Farm Town gifts to open on Facebook. And I am still adjusting to not working daily. Aaaack. Did I mention my house was a mess?
It is weird to think this all started with Ben saying, "Hey I have some extra money, why don't you go pick out some new bathroom paint?" The shopping cart was soon filled with new bathroom fixtures and wall paper instead of paint. Eventually, this lead to looking at new ceramic tile. Then a sink and vanity. Oh, but the living room...then the kitchen floor...(our like 3rd kitchen floor...this time for good!)
And you know what, no regrets baby!:)
So, what else is up?
Casey Affleck, Jessica Alba and Kate Hudson are here in Oklahoma City filming a movie. I think the last "big" movie filmed here was Twister but I could be wrong.
Photobucket
I have to wonder if Jessica Alba is possibly being a diva because The Daily Oklahoman published this (after her shark poster thing):

While on the topic of movies...
Photobucket
Have you seen it yet??
We did!
Have you seen the commercial for that giant cupcake maker, The Big Top Cupcake?? OMG I so want it...
Photobucket
Harrison loves cupcakes so I think he would love making a giant one.
Mmmm cuppycake love.
Look at this!!!
The hamburgers are brownies/cupcakes and the fries are sugar cookies.
Photobucket
I would seriously eat this daily if I could! I like how Bakerella has templates for free on her blog so you can make your own. :)
Are you hungry yet??
I know I have not created anything myself in forever. Totally dried up motivation-wise. We need some craftspiration!!!!

I have tons of flowers so I love this idea!

My hair is really long so this summer I have been into the elastic hair bands. I like this craft--adding a felt flower.
I have no one lined up for Featured Friday. If you are interested in being featured (any Friday) just shoot me an email at harrisonsmommy1@gmail.com so I can email the details to you.
:) Thanks!

Just a quick post to let y'all know I am still living and breathing (I think). For the past few days I have seriously been practically living at my local Home Depot. And I abhor hardware stores. But I can't buy toilets and sinks at Target so Home Depot it is! I am going to post pics of our new bathroom stuffs and I have a lot of blog surfing to do,too--hopefully by this weekend.

Do you have an excessive amount of crayons--especially broken ones around your house?
Here's a fun and easy craft to do with your kiddo(s) and the broken crayons~
Make "Stained Glass" Art!
-Old crayons
-Wax paper
-An iron
1. Take the paper off the crayons. Break them into smaller pieces (about M&M size).
2. Cut 2 pieces of wax paper into the shape you want (bug, dinosaur, etc). If you have trouble you can draw it first with pencil or Sharpie and/or use a coloring page or picture, pattern, as a template.
I did a butterfly! Here is my template.
Photobucket
3. Take one of the pieces. Sprinkle your broken crayons on it--try not to get any too close to the edge because when it melts it spreads and you don't want it to come out of the sides of your wax paper. Now put the second piece on top, like a sandwich with a crayon filling.
4. An adult should warm up an iron and gently hold it over the wax paper so the crayon melts (this only takes a few seconds). If you don't want to make a mess you can put wax paper over and under your art project before running the iron over it. If any happens to get on the iron, after it has cooled down use Windex and a paper towel to clean it off.
5. When your art project has cooled down, you can punch a hole in the top, string it with yarn and hang in a window! :)
My finished butterfly~

Featured Friday!!!--Debbie Chavers!

Before I share this Friday's artist, I wanted to tell you I fixed the Parasol link below. Sorry about that!
Photobucket
This week we have Debbie Chavers joining us!!! She is an artist and a writer. She was also interviewed for tv yesterday!!! I found out this information (and quoted some) from Moms United in Business.
Debbie was on The Christian Television Network, CTN,the program is Bridges, hosted by Monica Schmelter. The show on June 4, 2009. This is the page link to see the advertisement of that days segment-
She was also given the opportunity to show some of her work and introduce her Christian art line,
Art Parables, Visions of His Word ™.

All artwork featured below is on her blog:
Daily Delight Paintings
Here's Debbie!

Photobucket

1. Tell us a little about yourself.

My name is Debbie Turner Chavers. I am an artist and writer. I have been writing and painting for many years now, but only within the last 6 months have I been able to share it with a much larger audience. My last child moved out and after spending the majority of my adult life as a parent. I now have periods of time where I have the opportunity to paint and write.

2. What inspires you?

I am inspired by God's unfailing love toward me and the people that He created.
God has made so many wondrous things and people. I enjoy encouraging others.
I love to spend time out of doors, walking, gardening, hunting with a camera lens
to capture the moment.
God's word inspires me to paint and to write. I always seek quiet and beauty in
some form on a regular basis. This helps my creative nature and helps me keep
balanced by shutting out the unnecessary things that clutter our lives.

Photobucket

3. What advice would you give to a beginner?

The advice that I give to everyone, including myself, is to schedule time to create. On my blog I posted an encouragement to set aside even 10 minutes a day to get started. The blog entry is called Practice Equals Growth.

4. What is your favorite medium or tool to work with?

My favorite tool or medium changes depending upon what I am creating.
I love the whole process of design and creating. From painting to gardening, the opportunity to create something is endless. This can take many types of tools. So my favorite is one that helps me render what I see.

Photobucket

5. How do you find time to create?

I make the time on a regular basis. When you have a strong desire to share with others, your vision expands and you carve out bits of time to birth that desire into something concrete that you can share. Be it words or art. I have a plan everyday to accomplish. Some days it is only for a while and other days I have the joy of a full day in the studio or a large chunk of time for writing and researching.

6. Where do you spend most of your time creating?

When I first started drawing it was at a table in my kitchen. I would work very early before my children woke up to start school. Sometimes I would draw or paint during their recess time. Now my children are grown and I have a large room that is my studio. On a regular basis I paint in many different places to keep a fresh perspective. Different lighting, etc... Sometimes you paint your surroundings and sometimes your surroundings paint you! This is one of the reasons I seek quiet time and time outside.

7. What got you started?
What got me started drawing and painting was inspired by my prayer during a time of personal bible study on an early morning many years ago. A desire to share the word of God with others.

Photobucket

8.
How would you describe your style?

Peaceful.

9. What do you enjoy most about creating?

The thing I like best about creating is that it causes me to sing. When I am painting, I experience a level of joy that causes me to sing. I become so absorbed in the process that normal aggravations of adult life slip away. There is a song that says---Let us forget about ourselves and magnify the Lord and worship Him. This is how I would describe the joy. It creates a spirit of praise within me. And everything in me at the time wants to convey that joy and vision that I see.

Photobucket

10.List your sites or sites where we can see more of your work! :)

I have 3 web sites.
http://visionsofhisword.blogspot.com/

Thank you Debbie!!!!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!!! Sunday night I am posting a kid craft!
