Featured Friday!!! Melisa T.

Photobucket
This Friday we are putting the spotlight on scrapbooker Melisa T. We have been friends since our kids were babies and she is one amazing scrapbooker!

Here's more info on Melisa!
Photobucket
I love how interesting her pages are. She is great at color combination and journaling!

I like to get a big stack of newly processed photos and flip through them to see what catches my eye... then i go w/ the colors in the photo usually. I let the tone of the picture dictate what embellishments to use. After I've created one or two new projects, I force myself to do a page with older photos that don't excite me as much.

Photobucket
An awesome page!

I'd say my style is pretty clean. I don't like tons of embellies or distractions. I like to see the pictures on my pages. Collage doesn't really appeal to me. I generally like to get several photos on a two page spread. I try to journal on every page.

Photobucket
Her lovely scrap studio.

I love creating because I can just get lost in the process and forget about my worries, troubles, etc. I like to see the look on my daughter's face when she sees a new page. I also love that she is getting into cutting, glueing, glittering, painting, stickering, and stamping everything in sight. She and I have spent many Sunday afternoons playing with supplies and creating pages together. I got started in this craft by attending a Creative Memories party my friend gave (she was a consultant at the time)... I remember thinking "oh, I'll go because I feel obligated, but I won't like it!"

Photobucket
Her favorite picture. Isn't it adorable? Her daughter Sarah is the model. :)

It's Easy Being Green

I have a working computer again. Yay!
Today is Friday and that means its Featured Friday!(see post above)...
Photobucket
Patty gave me this awesome lemonade stand award (so did Pearl!)
Instead of choosing 10 friends,I am going to give it to all my blog readers. :) Feel free to put it on your blog and give it to 10 blogging/webby friends. :)
Harrison and I want to share two of our St. Patrick's crafts.
Photobucket
Get some green food coloring or green washable paint.
Photobucket
Fill a ziploc with salt (I guess you could use sand, too).
Photobucket
Add a few drops of food coloring. This part is fun! Have your kiddie shake the bag and dance until all the salt is coated.
Photobucket
Get a piece of green construction paper.
Photobucket
Cut a four leaf clover--just wing it on the shape.
Photobucket
Let your child put glue on the shamrock and then sprinkle the salt like glitter.
Photobucket
Cuteness!!! If you are worried about a mess, do this outside on a pretty day. The good thing is salt does not hurt birds like glitter does.
Onto project #2...
Photobucket
We mixed some food coloring with water. We had an eyedropper from a science kit but you can use a paintbrush or q-tip.
We cut shamrocks out of coffee filters. We put them on top of newspaper (so the newspaper would help soak up the excess color).
Photobucket
Use the eyedropper to "paint" the shamrocks. :) Let dry. Fun!!
Another fun coffee filter project is to use the same steps with different colors of food color/water or watercolor paint on a round coffee filter. Get a clothespin and pinch the filter once it is dry. You can add pipe cleaner antennae if desired, and a magnet on the back.

Withdrawals....

Sorry to make this short but my computer died today. Kaput. RIP. Forevah. It was only 3 years old so go figure. I am borrowing my brother's laptop and will post from it and going laptop shopping this weekend. The worst part? (Besides the withdrawals LOL) is that I lost some pics--not a lot but still enough to make me boo hoo. Thank GOD for external hard drives--I still have 85% of stuff. PSA-Back up your stuff!!!!

Spring is on its way...

I can feel it! Today was a lovely day!!!
Photobucket
Sharing a card and layout:
Photobucket
I took this pic last year and used it for my card.
And I had two layouts to share but one is going to be pubbed.
Photobucket
But here's this one of me and Harrison.
Photobucket
And I made a sketch for you to use!!!!!
Photobucket
If you do use it please link to what you make because I would LOVE to see it! :)
Hmm...what else is going on?
We had a thrifty weekend. We went to a huge church garage sale, the library book sale where they sell discarded books and thrift store shopping.
Here are our garage sale finds:
Photobucket
A student desk-$3.
Photobucket
Gumby doll-.10 cents. Harrison is going through a Gumby stage right now.
Photobucket
More toys--all .10 cents
Photobucket
Horsey puppet-.10 cents!
Photobucket
And my super find:
Photobucket
Photobucket
Box of paints (not dried up!) for $3!!!
Photobucket
Photobucket
The book sale was at the OK State Fair.
Photobucket
The "needle" is the most popular thing at our fair. I guess you could compare it to Texas' Tex guy. You can ride the red, windowed part up and down. I am scared of heights so I have never been on it, but I like to photograph it!
Photobucket
Harrison was so patient. We took his big red wagon to fill.
We bought a lot of books because this is the one time a year we really buy books. And
25 cents-$1 a piece rocks.
I'll share just a few finds~
Photobucket
I am so jealous of this cover. I really wish I had a friend who would be willing to re-create this cover LOL. I am serious. I think it is so cool!
Photobucket
Photobucket
Photobucket
Yes, I needed this.
Photobucket
Cute!
Photobucket
Photobucket
I like this one because
Photobucket
It has pictures to paint--with real detailed directions like paint by number kits.
Photobucket
Photobucket
The line at the sale when we arrived. It was out the door when they let everyone in. It is very controlled. The police let in a few at a time.
Photobucket
Now I have the French version! The Little Prince is my fave. :)
Photobucket
I bought this book for the cover. It is called the Creative Family Workshop.
It is kinda a hippie book but could also be used for survivalist skills--it shows you how to live in the wild.
Photobucket
Make your own nasty beer?
Photobucket
Cook outdoors! I LOL at the pictures.
If you are a crafter/scrapbooker or rat packer like me--have you ever saved something silly?
Photobucket
I saw this hot pink plastic netting bag on my apples and saved it to use for ???who knows what??? but I liked it!
I have been crazy about this kit from Danielle Thompson~
Photobucket
And "the red ones are my favorite"...
Photobucket
Photobucket
Photobucket
I love RVA.
Here's a cool link for free digital scrapbooking/hybrid stuff like treat bags!

OMG I *love love* these free fonts!!!!

Okay, these aren't the "coolest" pictures but here is what my scrap room is looking like so far~
Photobucket
Sorry the pics are so dark! I guess I should not take pics at night with no flash LOL.
