JoyJoy

I got some happy news I have been meaning to share. I will be in the March/April '09 issue of Scrap N' Art! This is the first time I ever submitted. It was a pleasant surprise. I am also going to be featured on a blog soon. I'll share the link when my layouts are posted.
I did not move on to round #3 in the A Million Memories Holidays Challenge. But it's all good. Good luck to all the ladies who moved on! :]

Cupcake Song

In loving memory of my cherry cupcake (see previous post). Yes, I am a goof.

Life and other stuff!

Photobucket
I can die a happy woman now.
Saturday I was babysitting A.T. The boys were bored so we went shopping at Target, Kidz Stop, and then to a local bakery-Cherry Atomic.
I have had their cookies before but we decided to buy a couple of cupcakes, too. Cherry cupcakes. OMG! OMG! I have lived 31 years on this Earth. This is the best cupcake I have ever tasted in my life! Total joygasm.
Just look at the picture!
Photobucket
I love to watch H play. He is really into pretend play and makes up the funniest stories. They always start with "Once upon a time..." and include monsters.
Speaking of monsters...
Photobucket
Ugh. My parent's house has become a haven for daddy long leg spiders. I don't care if they are the "friendly" spiders--they creep me out!
I did a wordle out of curiosity to see what would come up if my blog was entered...
Photobucket
LOL-the biggest word is ScrapCity. Um, I guess I talk about that place a lot but I love that message board!
Harrison and I did some crafting on Friday.

Magnets for the grandmas.

H working on his cutting skills.
Photobucket
We made a "Batman bat".
Oh, and moms, I totally recommend this glue!
Photobucket
It really does not run!
We went to Midwest City to look at lights Friday night.

Oh hai there!

They had 4 hot air balloons and were giving rides! I am scared of heights so no thank you!
I like the blurred pictures best!

Saturday and Sunday night we went to see the Yukon lights. I'll share pictures later this week. Don't wanna over-light ya. I have video, too, but have never uploaded one so if I can figure that out then I will post it.
I do have to share this with you. When we were looking at lights Sunday night there was this van that kept stopping and parking. The lane is narrow so we could not go around them. They would get out of the car and take photos. Um, there are parking spots and you can walk to do that. Which is what most courteous people do. Oh, and of course they are in front of us the whole way. Ben and I grumble but try to stay happy people because we don't H to have bad memories of the holidays. So we go to park (in a parking spot) to see a huge, new display to lights up to music on the radio station. H rolls down his window, sticks his head out and yells at the people in the van, "Hey! I'm Harrison Spencer Winkle. Will you stop that? Will you stop driving like that???" We roll his window up and child lock it. Of course, we gave him a reprimand but it was really hard because I really wanted to laugh. I had to hide my face for a minute.

Gratitude attitude

Here is my version of the tutorial for the Gratitude Journal. Heidi Swapp's journal was the inspiration for this although I did not follow all her instructions exactly that is why I am sharing my own version here.
1. I cut 2 pieces of heavy chipboard (from the back of old notebooks) into 6"x12" size using my paper trimmer.
Photobucket
2. I covered all four sides. For the front cover I used daisy d's floral print. I also used Tim Holtz's Distress Ink in walnut on all sides.
Photobucket
Photobucket
3. I cut one 3.5"x6" piece of copper cardstock to use as my spine. I bent my spine in half...not quite a fold but a curvy bend. I added adhesive to the spine, and laid the two covers onto the spine.
Photobucket
My spine.
Photobucket
Bent it and put adhesive.
Photobucket
Adhering the covers.
4. Then I chose cardstock colors (I picked Fall-ish ones). I made 6 pages and cascaded them
11.5” , 10.5”, 9.5”, 8.5”,7.5”, and 6.5” in length. I made sure all were 6” in width.
Photobucket
Cascading lol by laying on top of one another.
5. I got out the old corner rounder and rounded all the corners and used Distress Ink on all the sides.
Photobucket
6. I don't own a crop-a-dile (boo.), so I hole punched through the pages and cover--only doing a few at a time.
Photobucket
7. Then I put it all together and tied pages to the spine with a ribbon.

Back.
8. Photobucket
I decorate each page using Autum Leaves and Heidi Swapp stamps. I also used these cool designs Heidi has on her blog for free download HERE.
Photobucket
9. Then I also decorate the cover. I paper crimped this:

and rubbed the Distress Ink all over it. It came out neat. I then added the Thickers.
Photobucket
Voila!

Patterns

I am posting these later than I planned but here are the templates:
Gift Bag Pattern
Snowman Body Pattern
Snowman Accessories Pattern
*The snowman patterns were created by Mel Stampz at SplitCoast Stampers forum.
I resized the patterns on my copier to make them bigger for what I was creating.
Please let me know if you have difficulty with the links--this was my first time making pdf's on acrobat. I know they are slow to load.

Flipping Out?

We are having a nice lazy Sunday. Family time. Sandwiches for lunch.
Tonight I will post the journal tutorial. I also have templates I want to share with you!
So here are photos of my Gratitude Journal~

It was totally made from scratch.
I also moved on to round #2 for the Flippin' For the Holidays! contest at A Million Memories.
Photobucket
For the #2 challenge we had to wrap our ornaments using scrapbook items.
I made three different wrappings but I really wanted them to coordinate (OCD kicking in?) so I used only Basic Grey-Figgy Pudding.

I made all 3 from scratch-100% handmade. I have a template for the snowman and the bag. To make the box I just took a box I had apart with an X-acto knife and used that as a template to cut my paper. Yes, some of these projects took measuring (which I hate to do), cutting straight (which I cannot do LOL), and mad origami skillz. But it was fun!
I have photos I want to share about what we did over the weekend, too.
