Little Jack o'Lantern Party!!!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
We just got back from the Little Jack o'Lantern party! It was so much fun!!! Harrison was his usual wild man self. That probably should have been his costume LOL. He wore his bee costume from last year but tonight he is putting on his pirate one. Is it normal for a child to wear three different costumes?!? He is so funny. I saw my old second grade teacher, Mrs.Manes at the party. She is the one who inspired me to become a teacher. She is the nicest person I ever met in my childhood life and I remember her hugs. Such warm memories I had being in her classroom. I will never forget her! I told her I owned the hyperactive bee in the corner and she laughed. I also saw my pregnant friend Darcey (hiya girl!!! your little baby bump looks so cute!) but I did not get to talk to her. I did get to talk to someone I went to college with--Tanis. She has adorable boys. I gave her my email addy and I hope I hear from her. She is so sweet. Other than my son trying to run out of the library twice and then us making our ghost windsock craft upside down!!!--we had walked out during the instructions--and were lost when we returned, it was fun (huge run-on sentence I KNOW). We ate pumpkin cookies, drank apple juice and came home with a small treat bag.
Then we were off to grandma's but she was not home. Funny thing is I told H, "I bet she is at WalMart, let's go there." I had to get a tablecloth and I saw a shirt I wanted from their ad. (Cute heart neck thermal shirt with heart buttons!!!Red.) And H insisted on wearing his bee costume inside and he loved every minute of being the center of attention. I swear--just wait until he learns to do jazz hands for attention or something!!
We went back to grandma's and SHE HAD BEEN AT WM!! LOL We just never saw each other. So we talked to her and I made plans to drop H off at her house tomorrow morning because I have a shirt to exchange for Ben at Old Navy. She gave us some not so spooky music to play tonight on our playdate with A.T.
We made those apple pockets again last night. So good!!! (see recipe in a previous post below). I like having things Harrison can make with me.
I want to send hugs to my friend Wendy! Congrats on a successful Grand Opening virtual crop. You rock! It was fun (other than my oopsie by moving threads too fast) and I know we made good design team choices. I love working with you. Too bad we don't live in the same state! LOL
And thank you to my friend Audrey for letting my join your Christain SAHM group! I cannot wait to have a playdate with you all. I am so blessed to keep meeting such wonderful and awesome people in my life. I thank God for them everyday.
Later tonight or tomorrow I will post pics from our party and of our delicious apple pockets.
I am going to the post office in an hour to mail out those ScrapCity prizes!!!
Now we have to go take popcorn balls to the neighbors!
HAPPY CANDYWEEN!!!!

BOO! to you!

Below is a slide showing some of our pics from over the weekend. We carved three of our five real pumpkins (we have 10 plastic--eeek!). And we went to two festivities. Harrison said all month long he wanted to be a pirate BUT he had three choices: pirate, bee or firefighter and he chose firefighter! Maybe he will be a pirate at the costume party we are going to Wednesday...or a bee or who knows??!? AT is coming over Wednesday evening to help us hand out candy. I have three cooking projects for them: Monster Pizzas with tater tots (I need to go see if they still make green ketchup!), decorate sugar cookies and make Witch Hats (ice cream cone with chocolate frosting and m&ms) for dessert! YUM! Can't wait!!!

Harrison's favorite show currently is Charlie Brown's Great Pumpkin. He loves it!
Here are some pics I took on our way home from Fall Fest. They are of the downtown area. They aren't the best (they were taken from the passenger side while we were on the highway!!).

Today H and I played outside with bubbles, chalk and the sprinklers. It was so nice to have a break from housework and other humdrum chores!

Today I am going to hang with my mom. She got her dream job so she was working two jobs!! My dad also works full-time. The stress from the day time job caused her to resign yesterday. So she will be home during the day which means Harrison and I get to spend lots of time with a fun person!

TRY THIS!!!!

In our current issue of Parents mag (NOV '07) there was this super easy and majorly delicious recipe! We chowed these down. They tasted so stinkin' good!!!!
Apple Pockets
Ingredients
2 Golden Delicious apples
2 Tbs. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
Flour for dusting
1 pkg. (7.5 oz.) refrigerated biscuits
Directions
1. Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Peel apples; grate them into a medium bowl. IN a small bowl, combine sugar and cinnamon. Stir half of cinnamon sugar into grated apples.
2. Roll each biscuit to about a 5" circle. Spoon apple mixture onto circles. Fold circles over and pinch edges to make half-moons. Place on a baking sheet.
3. Brush pies with water and sprinkle with remaining cinnamon sugar. Bake 20 minutes.

Whee!

Tonight we go to church Fall Fest. Yesterday was NOT the date of our costume party LOL. It is next Wednesday. I don't know how I could mix up this Thursday and next Wednesday. I asked Ben what time it would be and he was like, "It's next week!" We had a good laugh over that. Proof that I need more sleep in my life.

Love, Elsie Challenges!!!

I got challenge #1 and #2 done. I am such a slow scrapper! LOL
Challenge 1 was to work those words. This LO is about my snuggly dog Kipper.

Challenge 2 was to focus on one photo. This LO is about a glass chicken I bought my mom for her birthday. She loved it!!! I used the metallic silver Rainbow Tape but it did not scan so well.

what we've been up to...

This week will be slightly hectic. We have Halloween and Fall events starting tomorrow with a costume party at the library. And this weekend is ScrapCity's BIG grand opening online crop...from Oct. 26-28th at www.thescrapcity.com! Join us!
Monday it was superCOLD and rainy here! So we went outside to do some puddle splashing hehe. Sometimes you have to just say to heck with it and be the fun mom.

In the end, Harrison got stuck knee deep in a mud puddle. I pulled him out and all that was left was his boots!! LOL
I actually organized my scrap stash (yay!!!) with some hanging file folders~

Harrison's newest fascination is to take candy and make letters out of it! Here is the letter M.

Tuesday we went to the zoo. They decorate for their big Halloween celebration so I was able to squeeze in just like 3 pics before my digi battery died. :( I have been going through batteries like water lately! I had my trusty 35 mm so I was able to get 12 shots out of that before it was finito. Rule #1 always carry extra digi batteries and extra 35mm film!!!

We did some major shopping at Michael's Craft Store yesterday. So much so that when Ben came home I told him just to consider it all my Christmas gift! ;) Some of the stuff was for the SC crop prizes but 90% of it was stuff I could not pass up! I mean c'mon Halloween is 50% off and several Martha Stewart items as well. I feel really conflicted about buying MS stuff. I don't like her personality or what she stands for (perfection) but at the same time I really do like some of her products and especially when they are 50% off as well.

And I pre-enrolled Harrison in Pre-K yesterday. He gave me quite a scare as I was signing the final form and I heard," I want to go to school, Mom!". I turned around and he was GONE. I walked the halls and could not find him. I told the secretary and she was so sweet--she started to help me look when I heard his voice. He came running from the cafeteria saying," I went to school, Mom!" I am really familiar with the school layout because I taught there previously. As a matter of fact, when my son was running up the hall I saw one of the school witches that I did not get along with. Still there. Still gossiping in the halls with the other teachers. At least now as a parent I can request him to NOT have her. So we made a great impression at the school.
Last night I went through ALL of Harrison's clothes and I proudly have some bags to donate. Now I have to finish with his toys and my own closet. It feels so good to free up closet space!
